Heathers Tummy Fiber is amazing!!!!
I am from the UK and found this via the web after years of UK doctors trying to find a workable remedy for me. This Tummy Fiber has literally changed my life. The fiber has reduced by symptoms immensely and even allowed been to be able to consume some foods that I was scared to eat in the past in case it triggered my IBS (of course still in moderation). Would highly recommend this to anyone who suffers with IBS or other similar digestion illnesses. No need to use customer service yet.
I like the Acacia's solubility and ease of use much better than Metamucil. However, I have trouble coordinating the times to ingest,it so it does not interfere with my medications.

Amazing for preventing IBS attacks - constipation, not so much

So this product has really saved my life in that it has almost completely made me stop having the excruciatingly painful IBS attacks. I still have them very rarely, but the pain is much, much, less. So for that I am grateful. However, I have worked my way up to 3 TBS a day(split evenly between morning and night), and it has still done absolutely nothing for my constipation. I don't think this product should be marketed as helping IBS-C because for one it takes months for it to start working(if at all), and also 5 TBS is a ridiculous amount to have to take daily of anything, especially since this product is so expensive. I really don't want to increase past these 3TBS because of those reasons. Another thing is I was recommenced to order from the Canadian supplier Norfolk Holistic Foods. They took even longer to deliver, delivered to the wrong address TWICE, and it was unprofessionally packaged. Why would you recommend me these people? Overall a good product, probably more suited to IBS-D sufferers. I hope a better product will be developed for IBS-C.

Resolving IBS-C does take some patience. I understand how difficult and frustrating it can be to wait for your symptoms to disappear, but the results are well worth it. We have quite a few customers who need to take 4 to 5 tablespoons of acacia to resolve their IBS-C. Although this might seem like a lot to take, it can really provide complete relief.

Acacia fiber is 100% organic and soluble. It is very gentle as well. Since it is a natural product and it is not a harsh laxative, it does take longer to work. However, there just isn't a quick fix for IBS-C, as much as we wish that we could find one.

I would like to apologize that you find our prices too expensive. We do everything that we can to try and keep prices as low as possible, which is not the easiest thing to do when we only source the highest grade raw materials and everything is also organic certified.

We do offer special discounts, promotions, and coupons to our regular customers via the newsletter. This happens at least several times a year and we are trying to move to having a special offer in every newsletter. I am sorry that you had a negative experience with one of our Canadian distributors. We like to recommend Norfolk Holistic Foods because they are often able to offer better shipping prices to our Canadian customers. We have never had a complaint about them, so I am assuming this was a one time mistake.

Normally, orders ship out the day after you place them. For your next order, please feel free to give us a call so that we can try to ship out your order on the same day that you place it.

For this order, it looks like we received it Tuesday November 18, it shipped Wednesday November 19, and tracking shows it was delivered Saturday the 22nd. Priority mail is normally received within 2-5 days, so it was within that range. It would be great if we had even faster shipping options but that would mean express/overnight shipping, which is exorbitantly expensive.

We will always do our best to get your order out as quickly as possible, and hopefully most orders you'll receive within just 2-3 day..

Easy Way To Add Needed Soluble Fiber Daily
I love this stuff because it allows me to add it to anything I want to without the hassle of measuring. Here's my tip: get an old spice shaker (nothing pungent) and fill it with the Tummy Fiber. That way, you can easily add just a little to whatever you want. Make sure you build up your dosage to the two teaspoon level first and then you should be good to go worry free!

It does take longer to resolve constipation, so you will need to take the acacia fiber consistently for several weeks before your symptoms start to resolve.

STARTING TO FEEL BETTER

I've just started taking the Tummy Fiber after having a couple of IBS attacks a week. My long bathroom sessions at work, plus the painful cramps, were affecting my productivity. I started taking half a teaspoon each morning and night, slowly increasing and am at 2 teaspoons twice a day. The frequency of attacks has decreased and they're not nearly as painful. This has been the only product that gave me a relief
This has been the only product that gave me a relief from my IBS symptoms. I have suffered from IBS-D since I was 15 yrs old and after multiple doctors appointments the only med. that helped me was Imodium (one tablet a day). Tired of taking a drug not knowing the potential side effects in the future I decided to find a natural alternative. A gluten-free, lactose-free diet was not enough. Browsing online I decided to try the Tummy Fiber. I followed the instructions and then settled for 1.5 spoons every night. I continue with my gluten-free, lactose-free diet, but with the fiber I am regular and the consistency of the stool is much better. I have been taking the fiber for over 4 months now with amazing results and will continue taking it forever!

If you are following an IBS diet and using the acacia fiber but your symptoms continue to get worse, we recommend seeing a doctor. What A Wonderful Change!!
I've had IBS for a few years, but didn't realize what it was. My Dr. had been trying to get me to take probiotics, but they made the diarrhea worse. The Tummy Fiber Acacia Senegal canisters and rhe travel packs were delivered in a timely manner. The product itself, has done wonders for my IBS. It is a wonderful product!!! However, during the shipping process, the lid to one of the cans did get damaged making it difficult to reseal each day after I use the powder. Other than that, it gets my 5+ ratings!!

I've had severe IBS since I can remember (7 yrs old, now 70.). Constipation. Diarrhea. Painful bloating gas. I've tried every fiber supplement. After a few weeks of taking the acacia my skin started feeling like it was burning. Like I used a harsh cream. Also the inside of my mouth burned. I only used one half teaspoon twice a day in a full glass of water. When I discontinued the acacia the burning disappeared. I'm sure it has helped others but I am very sensitive to various things. This really works
I suffer from IBS-D. For many years, my symptoms were well-controlled by medication and careful eating. However, when I developed a serious side effect from the medication and had to discontinue, careful eating did not alone control my symptoms. Peppermint just made me sicker, so I was looking for something that might work. I decided to give the Tummy Fiber a try. The results have been mostly wonderful, though to be honest, I do still have an occasional flare. (Who doesn't, with IBS?) I find the travel sticks to be the most convenient, though not necessarily the most economical. I am stabilized at one packet a day. I find oatmeal the best thing in which to dissolve the fiber. One small complaint: It does have a tendency to form tiny clumps, more noticeable in liquids than in a thicker moist food. I recommend the Acacia Tummy Fiber.

Very effective against diarrhea
I had tried fiber supplement pills before many years ago and found it completely unhelpful, but the lowest dose of this (1/2 tsp BID) had an instant effect on reducing my diarrhea. Although I still have other symptoms, I haven't had an issue with loose stools since and haven't had to increase the dose so this supply will last me a LONG time. So pleased. I will say I do have issues getting it to dissolve completely in beverages no matter what I try, I often put it in soups or even condiments. But because it's tasteless not dissolving completely isn't a huge issue for me, I just end up with a small clump to swallow every now and then.

I have been very pleased with the Tummy Fiber so far. Customer service was excellent and it arrived very quickly. I have been using in for about three weeks, gradually increasing the amount I use daily - as indicated in the directions. Though my IBS-D is fairly mild, I can already tell a difference in that my episodes are less frequent and my stools are not as loose in general. It is easy to take and has been easy on my sensitive system. I would definitely recommend this product to other IBS-D sufferers. Love the convenience and ease of use!
I've been using Heather's Acacia Powder for years and it's wonderful--has helped me immensely! This was the first time I've used the travel packs. I loved being able to tear them open at the notch easily. They are very handy to throw in your bag/purse and then you're all set. My ONLY issue with them was they only hold 1 tsp of powder per tube. I take 2 TABLESPOONS of powder in the morning and 2 TABLESPOONS at supper. So for me I needed to use 6 tubes in the morning and 6 more for supper. I wish you could make these travel packs that would hold 1 tablespoon each for ppl like me who take a higher dose. (in addition to these 1 tsp tubes for those using a lesser amount) Then I would have only have to use 2 tubes each time instead of 6. Also, because I take such a high dose it was kinda expensive to use the travel tubes BUT the convenience it gave me by not having to drag along my big container of powder and my tablespoon and my knife to level it off was well worth the expense to me! I will definitely use these again next time I fly somewhere!

For the Tummy Fiber Acacia to work properly, it's crucial that you start with a low dose (1/2 teaspoon twice daily) and gradually increase to a dose high enough to resolve constipation (which may be 4-5 tablespoons a day). If you get gas or bloating, that means that you increased your dose too quickly. It can take several weeks to gradually increase up to the dose you'd likely need to resolve constipation, and unfortunately you can't rush this. Tummy Fiber is not a drug or a laxative so it won't work overnight.

I really feel for the constipation folks, since it takes some patience to start slowly, increase gradually, and eventually get your daily dose high enough to resolve symptoms. A lower dose can't worsen constipation, but it won't resolve it, either.

Having the fiber at least twice a day - and you can have it more often - is also key, as you want to keep your gut filled with soluble fiber at all times. That will help prevent cramping and spasms in the first place.

It's also helpful to review the Five Constipation Frustrations here http://www.helpforibs.com/news/newsletter/060705.html#askheather . If you've been using laxatives, click here http://www.helpforibs.com/news/newsletter/06/082206.html#askheather for information on transitioning off of them.

If you've been following these directions, then you may have a trigger food in your diet that is preventing the constipation from resolving. Please make sure you eliminate all dairy foods (including yogurt, milk and cheese), as well as any high fat foods, red meat, egg yolks, butter, solid chocolate, caffeine, carbonated beverages, and artificial sweeteners.

If you have eliminated all of these trigger foods and you are following the above directions for the acacia, then this could be a sign that you have an underlying issue other than IBS. There are a number of other conditions that mimic IBS symptoms, so it is important to be diagnosed by a doctor.

Otherwise, stress could be factor in your IBS flare ups as well. Try finding a relaxing activity, such as yoga or meditation. To resolve constipation, you should also drink plenty of fresh water and make exercise a part of your daily routine.

Heather's Acacia Tummy Fiber is 100% soluble fiber that will resolve both constipation and diarrhea. Since this is an all natural ingredient, it does take some patience to reach a dosage that will resolve your symptoms. We recommend starting off with 1/2 teaspoon, twice daily. Every 4 to 5 days, increase that dose by 1/2 teaspoon total until you reach 1 to 3 tablespoons to resolve diarrhea and 3 to 5 tablespoons to resolve constipation.

Generally, it takes a week or two to work up to a dose that resolves diarrhea and it can take over a month to resolve constipation, especially if it has been severe and chronic for a long time. You should see improvements along the way though as your dose increases.

If you feel like you've followed these directions with no results, this could be an indication that you have an underlying issue, besides IBS. I recommend that you visit with a doctor to be diagnosed with IBS because there are many other conditions that have similar symptoms.

I promise that it works if you are patient. Don't try to rush it as it may make symptoms worse. I followed the directions and built up slowly and have found this to be the most effective product I have found to treat my IBS. I would be lost without it.

For those who are prone to diarrhea, the daily maintenance dose will be between 1 to 3 tbsp a day and can take 3 to 4 weeks to resolve. For constipation, you should work up to 3 to 5 tablespoons a day. Reaching this higher dose may take 1 to 2 months, so it does require some patience.

This is the only fiber supplement I can use. I even give it to my 9 year old dog.

Relief at last!
Acacia Senegal is all new to me but after trying all the medical advice and products with no results, I sent for the travel packets to try. Boy oh boy what a difference within the first two days. Best Acacia, great price!
I have used a very similar product for almost 5 years (very costly). At times, it was out of stock and I had to use some lesser quality acacia. It was light brown, gritty and not organic. I need consistency in in my life and my diet, so I finally bought 3 pounds of Heather's. The price is great, particularly the sale price. My partner has started to use it as well. He and I tame our tummies together!

Product is good; but you need to take it slowly
Because I have used a fiber supplement prior to trying this one, I took too much of this product in the beginning and had a terrible gas issue. I reduced the amount and after a few weeks I am now beginning to see results. I think that it is going to work out pretty well, but I think that it is too soon to really tell

The acacia fiber had definitely changed in consistency. Not as light as before.
As much as I have always loved the Acacia fiber, it seems to have changed a bit in the past few months. The consistency is heavier and more powdery rather than light and Crystal like. I did like it better in previous years.

fiber is very difficult to dissolve. becomes sticky and clumps together

hope u try to make this is a pill form soon. I've followed your instructions but to put it in drink like tea, is too clumpy.

I'm so sorry that you are having a hard time dissolving the Tummy Fiber. Please know that you are always welcome to send back any of our products for a full refund.

The fiber usually dissolves without much effort, but on occasion, you might have to try some tricks to get it to dissolve faster.

First, try adding the fiber to an empty cup, then add just enough liquid to dissolve it. Stir with a fork instead of a spoon, then let it sit for 60 seconds. Add the remaining liquid and then stir again. This should completely dissolve the acacia.

The tea might be too hot to easily dissolve the acacia, so try adding it to a room temperature liquid instead. Once it's liquified you can add hot or ice cold water, but the fiber dissolves best in neutral temperature liquids.

You can also simply sprinkle the fiber over any moist foods, and it will melt right in.

Unfortunately, we do not have a way to produce the acacia in a pill form that would be cost effective or practical for most of our customers. Many of our customers are taking 3 to 5 tablespoons of fiber a day, which would require many, many pills. The manufacturing equipment required to produce soluble fiber pills also requires the use of binders to hold the pills together, and releasing agents so the pills don't stick to the equipment. The standard binders/fillers/releasing agents used in this kind of manufacturing are not ingredients we are comfortable adding to products specific to IBS, as many of them could be potential GI triggers.

Caused terrible acid reflux

I was so excited to get this for my IBS, but it caused really bad acid reflux so I'll have to throw it away. Very disappointed. This IBS IS SO TERRIBLE.

However, I'm concerned that there is another culprit in your diet that may be causing the heartburn because acacia is 100% soluble fiber. The fiber literally can't cause heartburn, it just stabilizes peristalsis and water content in the bowel.

I would encourage you to continue your use of the fiber by taking 1/2 teaspoon, twice daily to resolve constipation and/or diarrhea. Every 4 to 5 days, increase your dosage by 1/2 teaspoon until you reach 1 to 5 tablespoons per day.

effective product
I have used this product for a few months and it's effective for my type of IBS, which is the constipation type. I cannot use any other fiber supplement as they all cause gas and/or too loose stools, and pain. The only think with Acacia fiber is you have to start slowly and build up to your own comfort level, and then stay there. good luck!
