I don't use but this one product. Both my daughters do also. One used to suffer diarrhea after every meal. After building up by teaspoons, she no longer has this problem and enjoys eating without having to go to the bathroom after every meal. My other daughter suffered constipation, and after using this product daily, she no longer has that problem. Both now experience a normal bowel which is worth sticking by this product for eternity. My partner was having stomach issues and difficulty maintaining regular bowel movements. I did some research and found Heathers products. I am very pleased with the effects of the acacia fiber...thank goodness for a product that really does what it promises.
This does not dissolve instantly. Add it to liquid or any food but, give it a few seconds to soak and then stir it into the liquid or other foods to distribute it. . . Not a problem ... just a little technic.

This has helped me so much!
I have been struggling with IBS for several years. My flare ups coincide with travel especially. Lately it can be a small day trip even. Using the fiber has helped me with the urgency and frequency and cramps ( the peppermint pills helped also with cramps). I bought the travel fiber packets and bring those with a small cup and water bottle when I go anywhere for several hours or more. I used to treat the IBS with over the counter remedies, which were worked but can't be used frequently. This is natural. I use it everyday - morning and evening and extra when I'm going out or traveling. I am so grateful- thank you!

This is the best help for IBS there is! I started out slowly with only a 1/4 tsp before each meal and it took care of the diarrhea by the next day. Then I am now only taking a 1/4 teaspoon before breakfast and all continues well. Great value! Great product.

Details:

There are two kinds of fiber, insoluble and soluble. Insoluble is a stimulant and can set off IBS symptoms, and if you have strictures it can cause intestinal blockages. The tummy fiber is pure soluble fiber so it won't do that - it can't. It's not a stimulant, it's a bowel motility regulator. It can't cause blockages, diarrhea, or constipation, but it also will not help you until you gradually work up to enough of it in your gut, 24/7, to regulate motility.

In the meantime, everything else will keep impacting your gut and you will likely keep fluctuating day to day. The tummy fiber is 100% soluble fiber, it can't make anything worse, but it also will not help you with just the first dose or two, or first few days or two. For constipation, it likely won't help the first week or two either. This is because you are starting at a low dose that won't do anything at all, it is just to get your gut used to more fiber gradually. All fibers are indigestible, so you always want to increase fiber slowly and steadily,

Do not skip doses, do not jump your dose up and then down and then up and then down, do not skip days - none of this will work. This is a process, it can't be erratic, it takes some time and patience, and you have to follow the process consistently, day in and day out, or soluble fiber will not do what you want it to do.

You need to start with just ½ teaspoon twice daily and then gradually increase. Add an extra ½ teaspoon to just one of your doses, every 3-4 days. So add an extra ½ teaspoon to your morning dose, wait 3-4 days and then add an extra ½ teaspoon to your evening dose, wait 3-4 days and then increase your morning dose again, etc. You'll keep following that pattern and gradually work up to the dose your gut needs for normal motility. A rough average final dose for diarrhea is 1-3 Tablespoons per day total, for alternating diarrhea/constipation probably 2-3 Tablespoons per day total, and constipation a likely 3-5 Tablespoons per day total. That shows you the huge dose range, and also how far you will likely have to increase from the starting dose of just ½ teaspoon twice a day.

The fiber cannot make anything worse, but again, until you gradually work up to enough of it in your gut, it won't help you either, because it has to reach the point where it can control your bowel motility. Fantastic product!
I was on prescription medicine for my IBS for years, and got tired of the side effects, so I switched to herbal pills. It worked for a long time, but I got to the point where I was taking 17 herbal pills daily! I weaned myself off of all my medicine when I started Heather's Tummy Care Acacia Senegal, and am now ONLY taking the Acacia! I wake up feeling wonderful and am actually hungry! I'm not a breakfast eater due to the bloating and gas I used to have in the mornings, but for the first time in years, I'm eating breakfast again! I seem to do really well at the 1/2 teaspoon twice daily. I am learning to eat low fat, and healthy now, and healthy eating paired with the Acacia have me feeling my absolute best I've felt in years! Before this I would take dose after dose of Pepto, hoping it would stop my flare-ups of IBS-D. It would only work for an hour or two, and was unpredictable. Hello Smith - I'm so sorry hang in there, soluble fiber cannot cause or worsen diarrhea or constipation, or flip one to the other, but it also won't help you until there is enough of it in your gut 24/7 to regulate motility. In the meantime everything that is impacting your gut will keep impacting it. It's a process to work up your dose and you may still be on a very low end. Details:

There are two kinds of fiber, insoluble and soluble. Insoluble is a stimulant and can set off IBS symptoms, and if you have strictures it can cause intestinal blockages. The tummy fiber is pure soluble fiber so it won't do that - it can't. It's not a stimulant, it's a bowel motility regulator. It can't cause blockages, diarrhea, or constipation, but it also will not help you until you gradually work up to enough of it in your gut, 24/7, to regulate motility.

In the meantime, everything else will keep impacting your gut and you will likely keep fluctuating day to day. The tummy fiber is 100% soluble fiber, it can't make anything worse, but it also will not help you with just the first dose or two, or first few days or two. For constipation, it likely won't help the first week or two either. This is because you are starting at a low dose that won't do anything at all, it is just to get your gut used to more fiber gradually. All fibers are indigestible, so you always want to increase fiber slowly and steadily,

Do not skip doses, do not jump your dose up and then down and then up and then down, do not skip days - none of this will work. This is a process, it can't be erratic, it takes some time and patience, and you have to follow the process consistently, day in and day out, or soluble fiber will not do what you want it to do.

You need to start with just ½ teaspoon twice daily and then gradually increase. Add an extra ½ teaspoon to just one of your doses, every 3-4 days. So add an extra ½ teaspoon to your morning dose, wait 3-4 days and then add an extra ½ teaspoon to your evening dose, wait 3-4 days and then increase your morning dose again, etc. You'll keep following that pattern and gradually work up to the dose your gut needs for normal motility. A rough average final dose for diarrhea is 1-3 Tablespoons per day total, for alternating diarrhea/constipation probably 2-3 Tablespoons per day total, and constipation a likely 3-5 Tablespoons per day total. That shows you the huge dose range, and also how far you will likely have to increase from the starting dose of just ½ teaspoon twice a day.

The fiber cannot make anything worse, but again, until you gradually work up to enough of it in your gut, it won't help you either, because it has to reach the point where it can control your bowel motility. You just will not have enough of it in your gut to affect you at all until you have worked your way far enough into the process.

I will tell you candidly it will probably take you a few months to work up to the dose you would need to resolve chronic constipation, and in the meantime you'll still have symptoms, and you may need to use laxatives if you're already doing that. You should see improvements kick in as you gradually get your dose up around 3 tablespoons per day total, and then you'd keep gradually increasing until you feel stable day and day out. You can't just jump to this dose though - fiber does not work that way. I wish it did! But you have to gradually get your gut used to more fiber, and then reach the point you need for motility regulation. Once you hit that you stay at whatever that dose is, morning and evening, as soluble fiber literally only works when it is physically present in your gut.

My GI doctor tells me to take Metamucil daily and I still had issues. Switching to the Acacia powder makes my issues SO MUCH BETTER!! I will never take that other stuff again.

I was experimenting between this and benefiber. I have mostly IBS-C. This product works a lot better than benefiber for me and seems more consistent for a BM. Costs a lot more, but works well. It does not dissolve as well in cold beverages, so I have to heat up my juice in microwave. I would like to know more, how and why this works better.

I Will Never Buy Acacia Senegal Fiber Elsewhere Again
I purchased another mfr brand of this fiber thru the major online retailer so many of use. I could tell right away it looked different as I put it into the can I had from Heather's. The other brand was gummy and bitter and I was constantly having stomach cramping and pain again which I did not have with Heather's!! I will never try to substitute Heather's high quality and dependable products with anyone else's. They are NOT the same! The only reason I didn't give it the highest rating for shipping is because they were backordered for a couple weeks but I can see why that might be. Maybe other people have figured out it's the best also.

It is working!
I discovered Heather many years ago. The advice I received on the website and in her book was invaluable after undergoing gal bladder surgery. Many of the concepts are still with me today (as well as the medication highlighted in a box in the book). Fast forward many years: when my now young-adult daughter was diagnosed with severe constipation, I immediately thought of Heather and the Tummy Fiber as an alternative to the over-the-counter chemicals they recommended she ingest. She successfully transitioned from the chemical to the Tummy Fiber, taking her time, and just this morning she enthusiastically told me the Tummy Fiber "works great!" and continued to explain that her digestion has never been better!
