I must commend you on your product, Tummy Care capsules with peppermint.
Heather, I have had IBS since I was in my twenties and now I am 68. I have been on Doxepin for IBS for over 33 years. I also have GERD, which is controlled with medicine. I must commend you on your product, Tummy Care capsules with peppermint. For the first time, for as long as I can remember, my bloating, cramping, and diarrhea relating to my IBS, are virtually gone. I can now lie in bed at night without my stomach making all sorts of noise. I am still gassy, but that is a minor issue considering where I have been with my IBS. I usually only take one before dinner. That is the worst time for my IBS. I am going to pass your information on to my Dr. who I see this month for my annual checkup. This product has saved my life!

Hello Kandis,

I am so sorry you have not seen relief from the Tummy Tamers or the Fennel Tummy Tea!

With the Tummy Teas you may have to drink many cups a day - just at first! - to almost "overwhelm" your system with the tea to really kick out the bloating and gas. Drink the tea till you're sick of it! Then you can drop down to a more reasonable amount.

If you decide the Tummy Tea or the Tummy Tamers are just not working for you, please feel free to return them for a full refund.

I do have some tips for using the caps if you'd like to try them, as they can be a little finicky.

Start with one cap per day, and work up to 2-3 per day if needed. They work best taken in advance of anticipated trouble - before restaurant meals, last thing at night before bed if mornings are rough, etc.

Also try:

1) Take the peppermint capsules on an empty stomach an hour before the meal to allow them time to reach the intestines and dissolve before the food arrives. Taking them too close to meal time can be problematic for people with reflux. HOWEVER! There are some people (I'm actually one of them) who have problems with the caps when they wait the full hour before they eat. If you previously took the cap on an empty stomach, and waited an hour before eating, and still had problems, you might be one of those people. In that case, try taking a cap on an empty stomach just 5-10 minutes before eating, and see if that works better for you.

2) The peppermint caps should not be taken during or after a meal because the food will block them from reaching the intestines and this could cause them to dissolve in the stomach.

3) Drinking only enough liquid to swallow the capsules seems to help them pass through without dissolving in the stomach. The enteric coating makes them resistant to stomach acid, but they are still water soluble. Limiting the amount of liquid they'll be floating around in will help them reach their destination.

4) You shouldn't take them at the same time as any medication (prescription or over-the-counter) designed to lower the stomach acid. Lowering the stomach acid makes the enteric coating less likely to work (remember it is resistant to high acid). For folks who need to take these medications, what we came up with is taking the peppermint caps about an hour before you take the acid lowering/blocking medication. This will give them a better chance of making it down to the intestines where they will dissolve and start to take effect without affecting the upper GI.

Best Fiber Product I have ever used!!
I have suffered with IBS my whole life and have had to rely on fiber products that often produce painful gas and bloating. "Acacia Senegal-Tummy Fiber" never causes me any distress on top of what may already be painful. I've been using Heather's Acacia Powder for many years now.
It's so much better then Citrucil or Metamucil. I love that it's all natural and gluten free. I take 2 TBS. twice a day and it really helps keep me regular. When I order it thru Heather it almost always comes within a couple days. I have even gotten a couple of my daughters using it. It's really helped us regulate whether it's diarrhea or constipation. Life changing
Before Tummy Fiber, I couldn't eat out at all. Everything gave me what I call "Panic Diarrhea". Now I mix 1 tablespoon of Tummy Fiber with about 6 oz. of water two times per day and it has cleared up my IBS and has permitted me to enjoy going out to eat. You can brew it with another herbal tea such as peppermint or chamomile to disguise the flavor (peppermint in particular completely kills the fennel taste).

Using honey as a sweetener really makes it taste better as well. And some folks simply brew it very strong, let it cool, and drink it quickly as they would a medicine.

Hi Nancy - I am so sorry to hear this. Can I ask your current dose? It's important with the Tummy Fiber to start with a low dose of about ½ packet (or ½ teaspoon) twice daily, and to gradually increase. You need to keep gradually increasing until the diarrhea resolves.

Tummy Fiber can't make diarrhea worse, but it won't likely help until you've gradually increased your dose a bit. On average, diarrhea takes 8-12 grams per day, for some people a bit more or less.

My problems are with the delivery - hold up and cost in our customs. These 2 bags now cost me £50 (they used to cost me £25) and the last twice I have incurred £13 costs and I just cannot afford it anymore so will not be purchasing any more. I'm so sorry you were hit with an extra customs charge. Unfortunately, we have no control over this or even any advance knowledge of what kinds of duties/taxes will be charged on goods once they leave the US.

There is a solid reason for the sudden change in UK customs charges, however. For years we filled out customs forms with just the lowest possible value of the raw materials, not the retail purchase price, to hopefully help prevent our customers from being charged extra duties and customs taxes. The customs forms were filled out in a standardized format for all foreign orders, so the prices listed were the same across the board for all orders shipped out, regardless of the country of destination. A few months ago, we were contacted by a UK customs official who stated that we could no longer do that. The value of goods on customs forms to the UK had to state the exact value of the goods as listed on the invoices. We have complied with that request, so that is likely now affecting the duties charged to UK customers. We were not given any more details by the officer who contacted us, and when we tried to follow up and get more information we never received a reply.

I'm so sorry about this. Foreign orders are always a frustration for us, because shipping is so expensive, and orders can be delayed for weeks in customs, and then on top of it all the customs/duties fees are so unpredictable and inconsistent. We do hope to pick up an EU distributor sometime soon, which would solve a lot of these problems for our customers. Until then, we are struggling with finding good solutions to all these issues, especially for our UK customers.

There are other sites that carry our products and because they are ecommerce giants, they can offer more shipping options and hopefully something less expensive for UK customers. Here are the links to their pages with our product line:

I am so sorry you did not find the speed of delivery satisfactory. Normally orders to foreign countries take 3-7 business days. Sometimes, however, foreign orders are held up at Customs. It is very frustrating for us as well because it seems to be totally random as to whether Customs will hold an order and for how long. We have customers that order from us regularly for years without any complications and then out of the blue one of their packages will be detained for weeks on end.

It has been our experience that Customs can hold packages for 6-8 weeks sometimes. This doesn't happen to all packages, but occasionally especially with larger orders, it can happen. A delay like this is especially likely to happen when there are Customs fees due upon delivery. Sometimes orders will be held at the local post office, awaiting customer pick-up and payment of the Customs fees. This has actually happened in the past without the post office ever notifying the customer that their package was being held. So, you could check and see if your local post office does have the order for you. If things are held up in Customs, we just have to wait until they're finally processed through. All of their contact will be with you, so we never even know if Customs is holding a package until the customer passes this info along to us.

If you still have not received your order please let us know. We can provide you with tracking information right away.

Hello Joy,

I am so sorry to hear this. It could be that you started with too high of a dose.

Taking too much acacia too fast can cause increased gas and bloating. Acacia is one of the lowest gas-forming fibers out there and going slow makes the gas issue totally avoidable. Please be patient because this really does work.

We recommend starting with ½ teaspoon twice a day (daily dose of 1 teaspoon). You can split the daily dose up as many time as you like throughout the day, just divide it by 2 or 3 depending on the frequency you prefer. Try to increase the dose every 4th day or so by a teaspoon (add this to the daily dose). If you get increased gas and bloating by jumping the dose up by a teaspoon, try cutting this in half. Some people with IBS are so sensitive they have to go up at ¼ teaspoons every 4th day. Keep stepping up the dose every 4th day or so until you find a dose that resolves your constipation and/or diarrhea. Constipation is usually resolved with a daily dose of 4-5 tablespoons/day and diarrhea/loose stools usually resolves at a lower dose of 1-3 tablespoons/day. You shouldn't take more than 5 tbsp/day. The maintenance dose is different for each person depending on their specific symptoms. Dietary changes are often necessary to make lasting changes. In the beginning until you stabilize, it works best to take the acacia before each meal to minimize the effect of trigger foods in the meal and to calm the intestines before the food arrives.

Good Morning, I've not opened or used the packets yet - have them ready for when we depart on our travels.....however, each day I use 1/2 a teaspoon from the large canister of Tummy Tamer while I'm at home.....I've come to rely on this product because it seems to have helped me greatly. The loose/liquid stools accompanied by cramps/sweats/nausea/residual discomfort has been "tamed". Things were most uncomfortable before and I frequently had to just lie down after a bathroom visit to allow my upset system to calm before continuing my day's activities. Now, I go without much thought - the urgency has not been solved and I still need to go twice usually before the day's activities and again in the afternoon - but now I have "shape" and hardly any discomfort at all. Hello Linda,

I am so sorry you are having trouble with the Techni Ice Hot/Cold Packs.

To use for the first time, scrunch the sheets between your hands for a minute or so while they're completely submerged in warm water (use a very large bowl or a sink), until the air bubbles have escaped. Then simply leave the sheets submerged in the water overnight. It's helpful to weigh down the sheets with a bowl so they stay completely under water. The cells will swell (the hot pack will look like a thick quilt) and be ready for repeated use. Re-hydration is occasionally necessary after repeated use, but it will only take about 30-60 minutes to re-hydrate a pack.

If you have any specific questions on how to fill them, heat them or freeze them, please let us know!

We both love acacia & the books.
I will be 76 next month, and have had IBS-diarrhea since I was pregnant with my fourth pregnancy,46 years ago. This product really works!
This is a great product. It keeps me regular. This is one product you really need to follow the directions on. Once you find your dosage amount keep it there and it works amazing. Mine right know is at 1/8 of a teaspoon and still works. I may try increasing the dose to 1/4 teaspoon. I know my dosage is lower then what the instructions say but 1/2 teaspoon was to much for me. Great Product!

I regularly have one cup as my day begins and one more throughout the day. I cannot begin to express my thanks for your knowledge in this area - so far (2 weeks!) my tummy & bowels are fabulous....100%. I just don't want this to stop. So, I ensure that I keep my diet steady (have owned your book for some time now) and have not yet had any issues. Typically, just before I start my period, I have a lot of bloating, and just tons of discomfort. This tea seemed to have prevented all of that discomfort. True test will be next month. If I'm drinking this tea, and I'm not suffering with the severe bloat, and discomfort during PMS, I will then know for sure this tea is the reason why. I love the taste. I add one packet of splenda to my cup of tea, and it's yummy!

For about 28 years now, I've suffered IBS with severe constipation. I've been miserable all of my adult life. Your product seems to be helping, however, during my PMS phase, I still missed a couple of days movement. Hopefully, it's just because I haven't been taking the product long enough yet. We know that no one wants to cook two meals for every meal of the day, so Heather wrote this book specifically so it would be safe for those for IBS, but also enjoyable for friends and family who do not have IBS. You shouldn't have to make two meals, just one, because it will be both IBS friendly and appealing to everyone, whether or not they have IBS at all. You do not have to follow each recipe exactly how it is listed. Please feel free to swap out skinless chicken breasts for fish in the seafood recipes, or chicken for tofu in the vegetarian dishes. It is up to you and what you (and your husband) like best!

Have not yet tried ALL the products, but Tummy Acacia has helped lots!!!

I have tried the Fennel Tea only once, didn't get thrilled over it. The mint tea is great, have used it several times (I found that the tea bag can be used SEVERAL times before being disposed of). I have not tried the hot/cold packs yet, and am still working on the books. I have gotten pretty well through the 'IBS year' book, but have not used the IBS Cook Book yet. I have been using a Breville juicer for my breakfast (after my Acacia drink), eating a fairly normal lunch (mid afternoon), and many times a fruit smoothie in the evening, if anything. So far, things are coming along much better -- thanks for your site and products!

Still needs more time

It is too early to tell; I am still having a lot of trouble, but am a dual diagnosis person: Celiac and IBS. Along with the fact that an erroneous dx in an emergency room 20+ years ago resulted in a 4-days later life-saving surgery for a bowel obstruction; though I'd been told I had the 'flu' and was sent home. So, this case is not typical and this flare-up will take time.

I am sure the peppermint caps are helping. I don't have the fierce pain that usually accompanies a flare up..though I'm still in the 'eye of the storm.' Will be starting massage therapy next week. Medical doctors have just 'thrown up their hands.' They have no more options

Awesome product!
I've been using Heathers tummy fiber daily for a few years now. Just a 1/2 teaspoon in my coffee. When I hadn't restocked I thought , not a big deal I'm good! .Well let me say that a few days later I sure noticed the difference in my digestive system. I put my order in immediately.
