I have been taking drugs for a rare disease and had stomach problems for the drugs. Instructed by Dr to take nexeum.Started taking acacia fiber daily and have two cups of tea mixed fennel and peperment nightly. It was January when I took my last Nexuem and my stomach is great now in April. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone with a stomach problem, constipation, etc.. or believe they are glutin intolerant should try this product.5 star all the way. I had a friend with crons start this a month ago and for the first time in a few years a pain in her side has gone away. Initial 2 days had diarrea but went away. Still to early to rate.

I feel normal again
I started with 1/2 teaspoon twice a day dose (once in the morning and then after dinner) and within the first week I was starting to become regular and noticing a lot less gas. I tried to up the dose gradually but I think it may have been too much because I had diarrhea, unless that was something unrelated. I stayed at the 1/2 teaspoon dose and it keeps me regular but would like to increase it to help a little more with the constipation. I missed a dose or two during the past week and I had horrible trapped gas pains...needless to say I will not miss a dose again! I have had gastric bypass surgery and this stuff really helps me with controlling gas, because its a big problem afterwards. My "bad" IBS days went from 2-3 a week to not even once a week, more like 1 bad day out of 3 weeks. This product is awesome!

Very gentle
After several bouts of Diverticulitis, I was told I needed to take supplemental fiber. After using several other fibers which caused severe cramping and bloating, I decided to try your Tummy Fiber. I started very slowly and increased my dosage over the last few weeks. It's very gentle to digest, no bloating and it dissolves easily with no after taste. I'm impressed and will be ordering more in the future.

Tea could have more flavor so I include a bueberry tea bag and a green tea bag in with my fennel tea bag three times a day. It really does help with the gas.
I'm finding quite a few other people around me that have IBS also and am amazed to find out how they are handing it. Some are changing diet alone and some take a pill for fiber, and some aren't doing anything but suffering because they don't know what to do. I've been telling them about Heather's Tea and have gotten two of them to look at the pamphlet you sent me, in hopes that they will want to try your products. I know now that once they try it they will like it.

Since it's important to start at a very low dose (1 teaspoon) and gradually increase by 1/2 to 1 teaspoon every 4 to 5 days, it can take several weeks for you to notice any difference. I'm so sorry to hear this. People tend to either love or hate the taste of fennel. It really does work well for gas and bloating though so many people just get creative about how to take it. You can brew it with another herbal tea such as peppermint or chamomile to disguise the flavor (peppermint in particular completely kills the fennel taste).

Using honey as a sweetener really makes it taste better as well. And some folks simply brew it very strong, let it cool, and drink it quickly as they would a medicine.

If you still just hate it so much you can't even drink it, please feel feel to return it for a full refund.

good book

I have a lot of food sensativities, so most of the recipes I am unable to eat. All the gas & bloating are gone so are the doubling over cramping before bowel movement. I have had coronic constapiation all my life. I will be going with out insoulble foods for 1 month to really give my colon a chance to re-coop. Thank you so much for your web-site.

Love this tea, drink it every day, all day long
I mix it with other teas to get some variety, just make sure it is decaf tea. I also add a peppermint capsule to my teapot and make a large pot of fennel-peppermint tea, as I find the peppermint easier to digest this way, its very strong but you get used to it and there is no burping up of peppermint all day! Overall I have found these products life changing, my pain is substantially reduced, I feel supported and educated and I am not lost in wondering what to eat or not. The only product I haven't used much is the tummy fiber, I need to incorporate it more in my daily routine. Thanks again Heather!

These tea bags don't smell the best but they actually aren't bad with a little sugar. I mostly use them when I start feeling stomach cramps, and they seem to help calm my stomach quickly. They have prevented IBS attacks for me at work, which is a lifesaver. I would recommend them.

This is the first time I tried this product and it is wonderful.

Hi Carol - I am so sorry to hear this. There should be no way that the Tummy Fiber can cause diarrhea. Soluble fiber can only help both diarrhea and constipation.

Did you start at a dose of ½ teaspoon twice daily and gradually increase? Most folks need to work up to about 2 or 3 tablespoons per day for the best results. But, some people do stabilize at a lower dose, and chronic constipation tends to take 4-5 tablespoons per day.

What you don't want is to just stay at ½ teaspoon twice a day, as that isn't enough to do anything for you. It's just a beginning dose to get your gut used to an increase in fiber. You also want to increase gradually, not suddenly or drastically increase your dose and overwhelm your gut.

Please let me know if you have any questions and would like more help with your dosage. You are also welcome to simply return the Tummy Fiber if you can't use it.

What a difference! When I stick to recipes that come for this book, I'm healthy, When I don't, not so much.
Only the recipe for dried bananas has been a disappointment, but that may be the fault of my oven. I've had a couple of other baked recipes that didn't turn out properly in to also

Not sure if I noticed a difference yet
I've been drinking this tea for a few weeks but I can't tell if it's helping. I get bloated/gas incredibly easy. I started taking apple cider vinegar and I've definitely noticed that helping with the bloating moreso than the teas. I've been drinkin peppermint consistently for well over a month and taking the tummy fiber along with this tea. I'm glad I came across these products but I don't think I've gotten the results that many other people have.

I found the book to be beneficial to me in some ways, but find the recipes "sorta" out of reach for me to do. Money wise my budget only allows for a few items. Hi Brenda - thank you so much for your feedback. Can you please let me know the specific ingredients you're struggling to find or that are too costly? Let me know and I might have some suggestions for good alternatives.

There is a very wide range of recipes in the book - some are fancy enough for holiday dinner parties but many are fast and easy for quick meals. If there are ingredients you don't like you can probably simply omit them.

If you give me an idea of what kind of cooking you're looking for I can suggest specific recipes in the book for you that would be fast, easy, inexpensive, and simple.

Excellent Source of Fiber for IBS
I am IBS-C (severely). I get bloated, gassy and stomach distention from my IBS. I love Acacia fiber supplement. It is an excellent source of fiber for IBS. It relieves my bloating, gas and stomach distention as well as helping my bile. Acacia has a probiotic in it. The probiotic I take daily along with the Acacia gives me great relief. I would not use any other form of fiber.

Related to your comment about having both IBS and diabetes: Diets ritch in soluble fiber have terrific advantages for people with diabetes. Soluble fiber slows the rate of carbohydrate absorption (this gives an advantage to taking Acacia right before a meal), improves regulation of blood sugar, and lowers insulin requirements. Soluble fiber also decreases LDL ("bad") blood cholesterol levels, and therefore reduces the risk of heart disease, which is a serious risk for diabetics.

It looks like your package was shipped on January 11 and then simply disappeared into the post office tracking system after that. We resent your order on March 6 as soon as we learned you hadn't received it, and tracking for the replacement shows delivery on March 8.

Reasons for low rating of cookbook

Heather, I live in a small town in South Carolina, and so many of the products required are not available here whatsoever. I am on disability and cannot afford to order all the special products either. I also cannot easily get to Columbia, 45 miles away, to try and find them without a great deal of difficulty. I apologize for having to just tell you the truth, but for those of us who are disabled and living in more rural areas, the cookbook just is not that helpful, plus some of the recipes just have far far too many ingredients, including those which are unobtainable. But thank you for trying to write a cookbook for people nonetheless.

Can you let me know the specific ingredients you're struggling to find? Just about everything that used to be only at health food markets has now made its way into mainstream grocery stores, even in rural areas. Let me know and I might have some suggestions. You shouldn't have to special order any ingredients at all for the recipes.

There is a very wide range of recipes in the book - some are fancy enough for holiday dinner parties but many are fast and easy for quick meals. If there are ingredients you don't like you can probably simply omit them.

If you give me an idea of what kind of cooking you're looking for I can suggest specific recipes in the book for you that would be fast, easy and simple.

Best thing for bloating & gas
I unfortunately suffer from severe bloating & gas as symptoms of my IBS & fennel is the very best tea to ease my discomfort. Easy to read and great recipes
I purchased your book about a week ago and I can already feel the difference. I have made many of your recipes all of them have been delicious. I have been suffering apparently a long time, I just never had a name for what I have. My symptoms got worse after I became a lacto/ovo vegetarian. I did what most vegetarians do, I increased my fiber with whole grain cereal & breads, fresh fruits and veggies etc. Every morning after breakfast and many suppliments, I would run to the bathroom to vomit. Fennel Tea puts me to sleep!

This product needs a warning! One cup made me so sleepy and groggy and muddled I would not have been safe to drive! Could not even play solitaire! It may be good for the tummy, but tough on the brain!

Are you talking about an allergy to acacia trees? There shouldn't be a connection between an allergy to acacia pollen or leaves and the acacia fiber. We do have folks allergic to acacia trees who do fine with the acacia fiber. The fiber is actually only produced by two specific species of acacia trees, which only grow in Africa. The fiber comes from a gum that these trees produce (sort of like maple syrup) when the temperature hits a certain height.

Acacia fiber is also known as gum arabic. A gum allergy is quite rare. If you are allergic to gum arabic, or to gums in general (guar gum, locust bean gum, etc.) then you'd want to avoid acacia fiber.

Fiber either caused or coincided with terrible bout of constipation, so I quit using it. Tea seemed to cause bloating.

Hello Andrea,

I am so sorry you experienced constipation. The Tummy Fiber will not actually cause constipation, but will help to resolve bowel motility issues. I would recommend trying the Tummy Fiber Acacia Senegal one more time.

Please make sure you start with a low dose and gradually increase to a higher resolving does. Taking too much acacia too fast can cause increased gas and bloating. Acacia is one of the lowest gas-forming fibers out there and going slow makes the gas issue totally avoidable. Please be patient because this really does work.

We recommend starting with ½ teaspoon twice a day (daily dose of 1 teaspoon). You can split the daily dose up as many time as you like throughout the day, just divide it by 2 or 3 depending on the frequency you prefer. Try to increase the dose every 4th day or so by a teaspoon (add this to the daily dose). If you get increased gas and bloating by jumping the dose up by a teaspoon, try cutting this in half. Some people with IBS are so sensitive they have to go up at ¼ teaspoons every 4th day. Keep stepping up the dose every 4th day or so until you find a dose that resolves your constipation and/or diarrhea. Constipation is usually resolved with a daily dose of 4-5 tablespoons/day and diarrhea/loose stools usually resolves at a lower dose of 1-3 tablespoons/day. You shouldn't take more than 5 tbsp/day. The maintenance dose is different for each person depending on their specific symptoms. Dietary changes are often necessary to make lasting changes. In the beginning until you stabilize, it works best to take the acacia before each meal to minimize the effect of trigger foods in the meal and to calm the intestines before the food arrives.

Uneven results so far.

At first I thought that I had the answer to chronic constipation. But the effects have faded quite a bit. Very hard stools and none some days. I will keep working with the amount I use. My feeling is that eventually it will work the way I had hoped for. It is not possible for me to follow the diet so that has some effect. I live in a community and what is prepared is what there is. I am 75 years old and in poor health. I cannot cook for myself.

Hi Robert - I'm so sorry your results with the Tummy Fiber have faded a bit. That usually means you simply need to gradually increase your dose a bit higher. Sometimes people stabilize at a certain dose, and then something comes along that upsets their gut, and they need to raise their Tummy Fiber dose to get back on track. That's okay, the fiber is flexible that way, so you can adjust your dose depending on how you're doing. Just make sure you increase your dose gradually, maybe by an extra teaspoon every 4 days or so.

Fennel Works for me.

This is a well researched, informative book.
I was very impressed with this book. Many important facts not found even on websites supposedly dedicated to gastrointestinal problems were included in the book. As was stated, IBS is very individual. I think the recipes are very helpful for creating a varied diet. One can pick and choose what works. But I especially liked all of the tips for dealing with IBS, such as eating a less safe food AFTER eating soluble fiber. Dear Heather, I am 17, and have had food issues, originally thought to be allergies, for at least three years or more. At first, it seemed to be certain things like carrots and cabbage, but last year, it increased to the point where it almost seemed as though everything I ate caused diareaha, constipation, and even widespread muscle and joint pain. This led to the idea that perhaps I had fybromyalgia, and I went on with that idea until I noticed that all of my food issues had one thing in common: Beta carotine, or Vitamin A. I know now that it was merely a coincidence, that the vegatables containing high amounts of insoluable fiber also contain beta carotine, but at the time i thought that it alone was the source of my troubles. Long story shorter, after going to my doctor, he directed me to an allergist, who diagnosed me with IBS. Even after I had an actual diagnosis, I still didnt know what to do. I employed the mighty power of google, but still any true answers, much less a cure, was not to be found. I was beginning to struggle with self pity until I spoke to a person I respect very much, a former sunday school teacher of mine. She told me that she had had IBS over twenty years ago, and because of careful eating, she was able to reverse her IBS completely! So I started doing what this lady had done. I stayed away from citrus, from spicy foods, and I ate a lot of bread, rice and pasta. I took Tums before and after every meal, I drank a considerable amount of water, and I switched from regular milk to soy milk. And gradually my stomach settled down. and then I snuck in a candy bar or two. and then it was orange juice, and maybe a french fry here and there. And lo and behold, it's been four months and I am having virtually no problem with my IBS! In my early days of diagnosis, I ran across your website, and IT WAS A GODSEND. I had NO Idea that there were two kinds of fiber, much less that one of them could actually hurt me! I'm sorry this is sort of long, but I am SO grateful to you because IM REVERSING MY IBS!!! I can eat virtually anything i want WITHOUT Tums! I'm able to eat more food, and I had a great big salad the other day for the first time in MONTHS. It felt fantastic to eat salad!! I feel like I have my life back! Thank you so much!!!

still not working

Hi Maureen - For the Tummy Fiber Acacia to work properly, it's crucial that you start with a low dose (1/2 teaspoon twice daily) and gradually increase to a dose high enough to resolve constipation (which may be 4-5 tablespoons a day). It can take several weeks to gradually increase up to the dose you'd likely need to resolve constipation, and unfortunately you can't rush this. Tummy Fiber is not a drug or a laxative so it won't work overnight. Two tablespoons per day is far too high a dose to start with. This will just overload your gut with fiber and you won't get results. Please drop your dose back down to just 1 teaspoon twice daily, and increase by just an extra ½ teaspoon to one dose every four days or so.

I really feel for the constipation folks, as it takes some patience to start slowly, increase gradually, and eventually get your daily dose up high enough to resolve symptoms. A lower dose can't worsen constipation, but it won't resolve it, either.

First off I would like to say that my IBS was not as horrible as some of the cases I have heard about. It would hit me about twice a month with not to much pain, but I needed to be very near a bathroom when it did hit. The tummy fiber has both reduced the amount it has happened, and lessened the severity when it does. Also episodes dont last as long now. Since I am not a severe case I take about a tablespoon twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. One of the best benefits is how regular and "healthy" my bowel movements are now even when I do not have any episodes. I can travel and fly with a lot more confidence now! I like that this is a preventative and natural remedy, rather than having an uneducated doctor tell cutting me a prescription for some pills after the fact. Thank you for thinking of us Heather.

Hi Angelina - I'm so sorry to hear this. People tend to either love or hate the taste of fennel. It really does work well for gas and bloating though so many people just get creative about how to take it. You can brew it with another herbal tea such as peppermint or chamomile to disguise the flavor (peppermint in particular completely kills the fennel taste).

Using honey as a sweetener really makes it taste better as well. And some folks simply brew it very strong, let it cool, and drink it quickly as they would a medicine.

My Saving Grace
